Does the Rural Communities Trust award grants for study?

Yes! The Transpower/Rural Communities Trust Education Grants are scholarship grants awarded to young people from rural areas. These are awarded annually for those studying towards a tertiary qualification. The grants can be used to meet a range of student expenses and recognise the extra travel and distance from family can be a barrier to a tertiary education.

Is there anything the trust will not fund?

As a general rule the Trust will not fund overseas travel, wages and salaries, vehicle purchases, set-up costs or on-going funding.

How do I become a member?

Over 40 companies are members of the RCT. These companies understand the challenges faced by rural communities.

To date, over 850 grants have been approved, totalling over $600,000.
